Poem to Janine Johnson
Janine
I only knew you from dancing. Friday nights, I would look towards the door in anticipation of what fabulous dress and shoes you would be wearing.
When I heard you had taken your life, a deep deep sadness filled my heart. I did not know that you, with your radiant smile and utterly fabulous drag, had such a profound ache.
Now, I see your face before me and I recall when I held you in my arms as we two-stepped across the floor. I wish I had told you then of my admiration for your style and grace. Now that I know this will be no more, I wish there had been one more spin across the floor.
